I am trying to develop a novel, improved videolight based on my FTechX Classic series for use with the new generation of HD cameras.
I know there are all sorts of "funnies" with the CMOS rolling shutters but I can't figure out what it means to use a shutter speed longer than 1/60 second since at the the HD standard is a full frame 30 times per second.
ALSO !! on the HDR-HC9, in auto it goes to 1/30 second in dark places which makes sense if the HD is played at 1 full frame 30 times per second BUT then there would be no time left for "reading " the CMOS. Does the SOny manual lie? Is it really more like 1/40 second leaving a bit of time for readout?? So how does 1/30 second end up giving HD pictures??
Any help would be appreciated.
