Hi Friends,
Photographed this shrimp at night in San Juan, PR 09sep2010. About 2" long; 5ft depth.
I like to ID everything I see ... and I am stumped on this one.
Please take a peek and let me what species you believe it is and why.
Shots are not so great, but hopefully enough to get ID.

From the limited choices of the H/D REEF Creatures ID book (2nd edition): It looks most like the Velvet Shrimp. The reason being: 1) the large green "bean-shaped" eyes. 2) I don't see pincers , the book says tiny pincers. 3)translucent to transparent body. 4)Sand / Sea grass environment.

Nice guess! I believe you nailed it!
Further research reveals that the Velvet Shrimp is also called the "Sandsifting" Brown Shrimp ... well the one in the photos ultimately tried to evade me by burying itself in the sandy bottom.
Time for me to upgrade my Humann set. Still have 1st edition Reef Creatures which does not mention the Velvet Shrimp.
Thank you for your super help!
