Hi everyone,

I just started shooting underwater digital images this year and totally love it. But like a lot of you, I didn't know what to buy or how to set up my camera.

So to help other new photographers, I'd like to share some of the knowledge I gained from talking to a lot of divers on and off scubaboard.com. I'm not claiming to be an expert or anything, I thought I just pass some info along.

I invite other photographers to post what they're using and include a picture or two.

Okay I may be cheating because I'm showing my film rig. I'm still building a digital system. It may be a Nikon D70 or D50 or I may go the other route with a Fuji F810 in an Ikelite housing. I could also wait for a 7MP A-series Canon. It's only a matter of time.

The film camera is a Nikon F801 in an Aquatica housing. When that photo was taken I was using a cheap vivitar 19mm lens. It isn't very contrasty but it did the job. I took the reef photo right before that picture was taken. Since then I got a 24mm Nikkor F2.8D and it's much better. I use two Sea & Sea YS-50 strobes (one is pictured). Regardless of what camera I purchase, I'm getting new arms.
