I have A630 with a Canon underwater case. No strobe or lenses.
The camera and case have worked perfectly for me so I have no reason to "upgrade"
Size and weight are very important so a DSLR Ikelite strobe setup not going to happen soon.
Now that the 630/640 has been discontinued should I buy a spare camera or just toss the case when the 630 dies?
I'm not much of e-bay fan and there are only a few 640 left in the city

Ideas?

If you are happy with what you have buy a spare, that way you will never need it.

Buy a spare. If your camera breaks or floods, you have one to fit the housing. If not, I use mine for topside shots so I don't have to take the camera out of the housing to shoot pictures on the boat, etc.

Jerald:

Try contacting Canon about their owners loyalty program.

I did and talked to two different people. Apparently the program has changed because my only option was to upgrade to an A560 for $170. Both people explained the program as being very rigid and each particular camera model had a certain model they could be upgraded to. This is very different from what I've read other people have experienced. When I asked about others getting a refurbished A620 they didn't have any answers. Not good news. :(

Sorry the hijack :)
