I recently bought a genesis secondary that attaches between the LP hose and the power inflator of my BC. It adds about eight inches to the length of the LP hose, making it much too long. I'd like to replace it with a nineteen inch hose, but can't find one anywhere. Any suggestions about where I could get one?

Also, my regulator hose is stiff, and pulls at my mouth. I've heard that different brands of hose have different stiffness. Any idea which is the most flexible?

Cheers, Tim

You should be able to find one through the local dive shop, trident or Leisure pro. If you bought it from a local dive shop they should have solved your hose problem before you left the building.

That particular alternate air source would not have been my first choice and your problem is one of at least a few reasons not to go that route.

The flexibility of the LP hose going to your primary is most likely not the problem. The hose is most likely pulling because it is too short. Switch to an LP hose that is a couple inches longer and the pulling should stop. 22 inch hoses are pretty common on new regs but hoses are commonly available in two inch increments from 20 to 28 inches and you can also find them in 36 and 40 inch lenghts for octo and stage bottle applications.

Regulator hoses get a lot stiffer when they're filled to 135 psi..

For the pulling effect, switching to a 7' hose really helps.

Thanks for those replies. When I bought the genesis I lived in Cambodia, and now I live in Indonesia, so choice is limited. I travel a lot on business, and am trying to put together a light set of gear for tropical diving, so against the current grain of thinking in diving, I want the shortest possible hoses for everything. go figure...

I've checked LP, but had not heard of Trident, so I will search there.

Cheers, Tim
