I sure hope none of these rambling questions are really redundant... :dork2:

Aside from renting tanks at a few locations (such as dive tech/lighthouse/eden rock etc)...do they charge additional fees to use their location? Or I guess I should phrase it this way...does anyone charge beach entry fees?

I saw Dive Tech had unlimited shore diving for $135 for 6 or 7 days. If tanks are $10....you gotta dive 13 times to make it worth it. Do you know if you can take their tanks to other dive sites or just stay at their two sites? Is $10 approx a normal charge for tanks at dive shops there?

Probably can only do 2 days 2 tank boat diving...so the rest of the time will be shore diving and that is why I am being no neurotic about costs for shore diving.

We can't really afford to stay at Sunset House (or other like minded dive "resorts"). There will be 4 of us looking to share a 2 bedroom house somewhere...

ANd then I think if we can't swing it with more boat dives (financially) then we should just do Cozumel. I think.

Any info is much appreciated.

Two years ago, we were in Grand Cayman, which was my third trip. Always used the dive boats and expect to pay $100 a day, with the tip. Stayed on the East End and managed to hook up with someone from a dive boat and we thought we would give the shore diving a try. Drove back to Georgetown and used Eden Rock for two dives. I can remember the $20 charge, but can't remember anything else. It was worth it, though, nice dives, great viz, saved money. I'm sure Don Fosters is just as good, too as I have gone out on their boats in the past.

No one charges a "Beach Entry fee".

You will pay about $10. per tank at most places. If you need additional stuff you will be charged additional.

I own on island if you want to look here :

Cayman Hotels: Turtle Nest Inn, Grand Cayman - Intimate & Affordable Beachfront Alternative.

I can give you any info you want about the condos.Feel free to PM if you would like any more info.I could probably arrange a discounted rate for you.
