They tell me that there is a nice little reef off the beach across from the Villablanca hotel (where I will be staying, of course) and it"s right off Papa Hogg's pier. Anyone know anything about this area? Thanks for your help. Woody

I've been out there quite a bit. There are some smallish heads, fans, and sponges about 100' offshore about halfway between Villablanca and Caribe Blu that can offer up a not too bad shore dive, especially at night. Beyond that is a large grassy area, beyond that is the Villablanca Wall.

You can put in at Villablanca and take out at Caribe Blu if you don't want to fight the current back to Villablanca. The cut through the ironshore at Caribe Blu is pretty narrow, though, and kind of hard to find if you're not familiar with it. If you want to take out there, I'd advise first scouting the takeout point with snorkel gear.
