Greetings,

I joined last month and failed to make a post here. Is that like jumping in without checking your air?????

We haven't been in the water enough the last three months so I'm really looking forward to St. Thomas in a week. Gonna be there for two weeks so side trips to STX, STJ, and BVI are likely. Yep, happy diver.

My buddy is new so we'll be taking it slow. If anyone is or will be down there and would like to buddy up, let us know.

welcome aboard. have a great trip.

Shore diving in St Thomas???

If you want to shore dive in St Thomas, check out Coki Beach.

It's nothing fancy and not a "top dive site", but it's one of the few places to do much shore diving that I know of.

Coki Beach is a commercial "day beach" that 90% of the cruise boats send passengers to for "beach trips". They give them snorkel gear, etc. You can dive there and will quickly get past the snorklers as the water gets deeper. I think max depth was mabye 40-55 feet.

Check the crusie boat schedule and hit it on a day when you have less cruise boats in town.

Go to a place called Blue Island divers, Thats where my instructor has a shop. He will talk your ears off about diving, and he knows the good places, Not sure if he will be there I havent heard from him in awhile,
Hope yall have a great trip
Ron

Thanks, I'm an experienced Coki Beach diver. Would consider Coki Beach Dive Club my LDS when I'm in St Thomas. If you travel with your own equipment any beach in the islands looks inviting for a shore dive. Hull Bay is another must see spot and the local bar is a great place to buy supplies to enjoy the sunset.
