Shore-diving if staying in Semporna?

I'm arriving in Tawau at 3:15 PM and will take a taxi to Semporna. I am travelling over 30 hours to get to Malaysia and have limited diving time and would like to maximize it. I was hoping to do a shore dive (or a boat dive if that is possible) either as a late afternoon or night on the day of my arrival. I have my own gear and the next day booked at Sipadan but would love to get a dive in from Semporna that afternoon/evening. It seems the dive shops that have gotten back to me all run on a strict schedule. Anyone here local to Semporna that knows of any shore diving I could do within an easy cab ride (or info on any dives I could get in from a boat)? If so and you'd like to buddy up that would be cool too.

The security situation there means night dives are risky.. particularly in unprotected areas.

Realistically you would get to Semporna around 5:30pm. Too late to do anything including transfers to a Mabul resort
