Is anyone doing any shore dives in the Picton to Brockville corridor this weekend? If so where?

Hey Sirius, if you need a buddy I'm in town, all I need is a ride.

Hello, we planned to do shore diving in Brockville area next weekend and need somme info on the Gaskin.

How long is the swim to the Gaskin from the shore ?

What is the average depth to the wreck?

Thank you

I didn't realize that the Gaskin was a shore dive but after seeing how close it was last weekend. It can't be more than 300 ft out, right?

Doing the Gaskin from shore can be done by very experienced divers. Since the bottom is between 30-50' all the way you will burn through your air fairly quickly. Surfacing is not an option due to the boat traffic - accordingly, surface swimming is out as well.

Redundant air supply is a good idea if planning to do this wreck from shore.

I know of a dive buddy pair not too long ago who attempted to do the Gaskin from shore but during the surface swim back they were picked up and soundly scolded by a dive charter boat before being deposited on shore.

As well, because of all the safety issues involved, most if not all of the charter ops in Brockville disapprove of people doing the wreck as a shore dive, and there have been stories of divers running a guideline from shore to the wreck and charter ops going in and cutting it to prevent people using the line to find their way out there.
