I was practicing shooting a lift bag for my solo diver course and something very funny/embarassing happened. It was my 2nd time doing this, the first was from about 35 feet and everything went ok.

This time I was at about 18 feet, my lift bag is about 6-7ft long. I started adding air into it and apparently I didn't have a good grip because it was on it's way up.

The reel unrolled and then I tightened it up once it broke the surface. This is in a quarry so the viz was garbage, I couldnt look up and see what was going on.

So anyways, I wanted it nice and snug so I kept winding it up while keeping my position at about 18ft or so. This goes on and a brief thought entered my mind that...I am winding up a lot of line. Next thing I know, the lift bag is pretty much on top of me. :dork2::dork2:

My buddy wasnt looking at the time, I just let go quickly and then just followed it up winding it up not soo tightly. :shakehead:

I had to do the same thing today at 20ft, but I made sure I got alot of air in it before releasing it. :)

It's not a very difficult thing to do, but sometimes even I mess up.

It's those shallow ones that these to get us.......I think we all have had a similar experience with bag shoots.....I know I have!! :D
