i was ice diving with my SR2. My kit sat on the ice for a few hours in about -12C and snowing. When I turned the air on it had this very high pitch sound out of the first stage. When I brought the reg home and warmed up the noise was gone. I did not dive with the reg. Does anyone have an idea what caused it.

Be glad that you did not dive with it. Yours is a textbook description of what NOT to do with a regulator. While it will probably perform well at freezing temps or slightly above, chilling it to the bone significantly lower than freezing is a recipe for trouble in it it “warms” back up to just freezing.
