I have a chance to buy NOS, (3 yrs left on the hydro), sherwood/Asahi 3442psi HP100 for about $260.
I've read a little bit about some issues with the older 3500psi versions, but these are chromoly, 3/4" neck tanks, so I would hope there would be of the internal rust issues of the older tanks.
In any case, does anyone have any experience with the newer ones and any problems that crop up?

they have heavier bottoms than the comparable pst/worthington/faber tanks because of the manufacturing method. -5.2 empty, -12.1 full. some people like them just fine, some people don't. ask if the shop has any in their rental fleet you can dive in a pool.

Any problems with getting hydros? I've seen a few posts talking about concerns, but I don't quite get it. Why would there be a problem?

Not seeing if they are E (exempt) cylinders, I am assuming they are 3AA, and if so, there should be no issues (pre-stretch).
