Hey all. Looking for info on the bearings that are in Jim Shelden’s Walter Kidde compressor adapters. It’s the spline drive with the aluminum housing. Says air on it. Bearings are shot and was looking to replace them. Want to still use housing and drive shaft. If anyone has info on what size they are that would be a great help. Also if any one has info on were to buy that would help. I left him an email on his webpage and haven’t heard anything. I know he retired. Thanks for the help

Do you have pictures or measurements of the old bearings? That would be helpful to find a suitable replacement.

Do not have pictures off it. I can take one. It’s the standard adapter for the Walter kidde 4.2 compressor pumps. I will have to take compressor apart to get pics and the only way I can see getting bearing sizes is by pressing old bearings out of housing. I was hoping Jim would comment or someone that was familiar with this setup before I took everything apart.

Did you reach out to the company that he sold his Kiddie stuff to? They might have that information too.

Here are the pics

Take the bearings out and read the number from them.

This is the bearing and shaft. The bearing only say FAG on it.

FAG is the maker's mark/brand. Very good quality. But you really have to press them out and jot down the number. As a bare minimum, you will need the inside and outside measurements.

The bearing doesn't have to made by FAG since there are a hundred companies making bearings, visit a bearing shop with the old bearing and they should be able to set you right with a few minutes.
Personally I like SKF bearings best, but there are very few bad bearing manufacturers that have been in business for 20 years.

From Jim Shelden's website:
"I have sold all the Kidde parts and test equipment to Elevate Systems in Texas. They rebuild 2.2 and 4.2 Kidde's for the U S government and have been doing this for some time. In the future, you should contact them for Kidde repairs and information. The contact at Elevate systems is Rene Castilleja - email < rene.castilleja@elevatesystems.com. > Rene's phone # is (210) 807- 9981"
