Pretty much any shore dive along the northern Gulf Coast is crawling with large sheepshead right now. A couple of us dived the Whiskey Wreck and Alabama Gulf State Pier in Gulf Shores, AL last weekend and there were a ton of nice sized fish schooling about.

Took 3 at the Whiskey and 4 at the pier, could have taken many more but I simply had no need for that many fish. The freezer is now stocked again for a little while :)

Flounder still aren't running shallow just yet, but it shouldn't be long.

Everyone I've talked to who's dived off the beaches of Destin and PCB are also saying the sheepshead are thick.

After the Whiskey, before we headed to the pier - last weekend.

Going out again this weekend, just gonna take a camera this time though :)

Nice fish, thanks for the info. I plan on running out to Perdido Pass this thursday, might check out west pass to since the buddy I'll be with doesnt scuba : ( but, we'll be down there if anyone else is going, I'll probably have my scuba gear just in case.

Sheepies are running thick around South East Florida also. We've been seeing 14 - 20 incher's in 90 foot for the last 3 weeks, and a ton of them.

They are very good eating, with a nice flakey pure white meat and easy to filet. They taste incredible on the grill with a garlic butter sauce!!

Nice fish. I haven't been in the Gulf since last summer when I broke my shoulder. Can't wait to get back out there and shoot some fish.

I was at West Pass this Saturday hanging out with some friends, its only a few feet deep at the moment. Definately don't nee'd any gear, aside from basic snorkel junk, for this site at this time.
