Planning to learn tech diving some time in the future. I am looking at the Shearwater Predator at the moment. Do you tech guys prefer the Stand-Alone model or the Fischer Connector model?

Unless you're diving with a rebreather you won't be needing the Fischer connector.

Tis true. If you are diving OC, no need for the Fischer.

By the way, great computer. Super easy to navigate. Easy to read screen. Phenomenal customer service.

And you would only need the Fischer connection if you want to read the cells directly off the rebreather. (The SA can handle constant pO2)

Mine has the Fischer (Bought it as a Pursuit and later had it upgraded to a Predator) If I had to replace it tomorrow would get it without the Fischer.

Why is that?

CCR rebreathers will run a constant PPO2, and if you are planning for a PO2 of 1.2, the deco differences if you *really* average 1.1 or 1.3 are going to be minimal. From that perspective, cell monitoring is nice, but not essential. So, unles you have an immediate need for it and/or really want it, it probably is not worth the money.

And, if you anticipate wanting it in 5 years, the odds are good you'll want a different computer by then anyway, so save the money now and get the SA.

I agree with Aquamaster (what is your name by the way, I would like to know :) The deco on my back up computer which is in fixed PO2 mode tracks very closely to the deco on the Pursuit attached to my rEvo. I have a hybrid but I dive it manually. A PROT-SA can be upgraded to CC fixed PO2 in the future with an unlock code.
