¹ Will accept any AA battery, but vibration mode is only supported on Lithium and rechargeable Li-ion batteries.
² On medium brightness, AI turned off, and with listed battery type. Rechargeable batteries may lose capacity over time.

Price is with transmitter or without?

I'm looking at replacing a 10 year old Oceanic OCi with a new computer. Discovered that the MH8A transmitter I still have is compatible with Shearwater so their products are frontrunners, particularly the Teric and now the new Tern. Given the age of the Teric, it's often always on sale, so there's only a couple of hundred $$ in it between Teric on sale and Tern at retail.

Looking at the comparison table above, the Tern TX is looking like a good contender, and from what I understand the battery is different to the Teric. I guess is there any sense that the latest production runs of the Teric have resolved the battery discharge issues? I think I'm leaning towards watch style vs something like the Perdix 2, just as I prefer to keep my computer on between dives/post dive tracking surface intervals, but would only wear it during dive weekends/trips, as I have other watches for the real world.

For context, I'll be looking to do a few local shore/boat dives every month or 2, with some (4-6) holiday dives a year, plus an extended (7-10 day) liveaboard every couple of years. Moving into tec diving isn't on my radar for the next ~5 years, but I am tec-curious. I am consicous of the battery issues and managing discharge between dive trips.

Hello, I use a Teric nearly every day for free diving. The free diving mode works very nice. It is easy to download and view the dive profiles. The Teric gives me little vibration reminders when I have been down too long and when I have rested enough on the surface. I love the wireless battery charger. I think all this would apply to the Tern as well as the Teric.

One thing, to increase charge duration it is recommended to turn off the compass function. Obviously, while free diving I never look at the compass. When I scuba dive, I have a real compass on my instrument pod.

Looks like we need another column on there for the PeregrineTX.
And for the NERD 2 as well, which I use, on occasion, with a full face mask and a rail system . . .
