You don't need to swim faster than a shark. You just need to be able to swim faster than your buddy! !!!!!:D

Ditching your weight and placeing it on your buddy helps also......

I had an instructor in Hawaii tell me what to do if you see a shark.

A. Take your knife out of it's sheath
B. Grasp it firmly by the handle
C. Swim next to your buddy
D. Stab him in the leg
E. Swim away quickly

He then went on to say,"Your knife is a tool, not a weapon".

MissScuba once bubbled...

but what if there is more than one shark???

Dive with a lot of buddies! LOL

....but when we were learning to dive a lot of years ago in Hawaii, in a predive briefing, the DM told us this. " If we encounter some sharks on this dive, I want all the women (there were about 4 women in the class) to form a protective ring around the men, who will form a tight group in the middle...because everyone knows that sharks are 'MAN EATERS'"

Made perfect sense to me!
