"Teens Catch Great White Within Sight of NJ Beach"

attachment.php

The 6' Great White shark - hooked 3.6mi off the beach at popular summer destination of Seagirt - is a relatively recently born "baby" which will grow to around 12' or so over the next few years. I was reminded, that given his age, it's a good bet that "mom" is a NJ resident as well.

He was photographed and released, so I wonder if I'll come across mom or junior some weekend when I'm diving one of the wrecks in the area right where he was caught.

Well. Look at the bright side.

Most people spend their diving career wondering if there is a shark JUST outside their visibility area waiting to pounce on 'em.

In your case. There is. For sure. =D

Happy Diving!

Hehe, J/K - that is really cool. I wish I could see one up close without getting munched on.

Great catch and release!

As we always say during any catch and release "Now go get your momma" :D
