Shark Dive Locations

Hi there my partner and I have just returturned from out third trip to the Surin and Samilian Islands in Thailand, although lovely we have decided that we are in need of more adventure diving, and in particular a need to see sharks!! We have been to the maldives too, and were unlucy in spotting sharks there, has any one got a few locations were you can almost gaurentee sightings of sharks and more adventurous diving, please mail us back...Thank You x

You can probably count on seeing sharks at these locations...depending on weather, sea state, etc. diving conditions can be somewhat challenging.

We observed approx. five to six different shark species at each location...silkies, white tip, silver tip, Galapagos, hammerhead, baby tiger in MX....

Guarantee bull sharks, grey reef sharks and poss of whale sharks diving chumpon pinnacle off Koh Tao (east coast of thailand). Most dive operators do this as morning dive so can get busy, if you dive with Koh Nangyuan divers they tend to go at alternate times to everyone else as they are closer to the dive site.

Best place to see the sharks is toward the end of barracuda rock (chumpon pinnacle) where there are sets of fish traps located in around 30-35 metres water, sharks tend to attract toward these.

Also Southwest pinnacle (Koh Tao) is v. good for seeing sharks.

How about seeing Oceanic White Tip sharks near Marsa Alam in Southern Egypt. Dive spots like Elphinestone are famous for them. The site is also know for its beautiful corals. You can dive there all year round, but the wind and waves are pretty strong in the winter months. For advanced divers.

If you have a lot of nerve you can go cage diving with the Great Whites near Cape Town in South Africa. It's not quite my thing, but some people swear that it's the best adrenaline rush they've ever had.

where do you live? there are so many places where you will be guaranteed to see sharks... also what kinds of sharks do you want to see?

Try Cocos Island. Tons of shark, eagle rays, manta's.
Tahiti is ok as far as diving goes, but very, very expensive and they are not the kindest of people. In fact we just returned from Tahiti and I will not go back. We were treated like 2nd class citizens.

Really ?? I spent a week on the Aggressor and a week on Moorea and I have a fantastic time - I thought the people were wonderful. And the week I spend on Moorea was no more costly than a week in the Bahamas or Grand Cayman - but then I didn`t stay in the Beachcoomber or the Hilton !
