This is NOT an attempt to revive the Shadow Divers debate. It is simply to relate my experience. The wife bought me Shadow Divers on CD since I drive so much. I have been listening to the 13 CD's and all I can say is that I have never enjoyed traffic jams so much in my life!

If you don't have time to read the book, I STRONGLY recommend the CD version. A little pricey (in the $70.00 range) but in my opinion worth every penny. What a great way to travel. In some parts I found myself leaning over the steering wheel...almost like I was trying to listen ahead, because I was so anxious to see what happened next. And, yes I admit it....I cried in a few spots....I am secure in my manhood. :D

Just wanted to say that it was a compelling story, and hearing it on CD was a great experience!

That was going to be my question...who's reading it?

Hey, I cried in several places in the book and i've read it 4 times now! In fact just finished the 4th reading this a.m. AND I cried AGAIN at the end. My manhood is big enough to take a good cry. :-0

This is such a well written book (and I read a lot) that I kind of feel that having it narrated on disc would be kind of a let down for me. I enjoyed savoring certain passages and pausing to picture them in my mind or re-reading them for additional affect.

Of course if your life is so busy that listening is the only way to get exposed to this book
then that's better than not getting exposed to this story. I'd like to know who's narrating
also and may check the CDs out of the library one day.

Wow -- I should look for it. I really enjoyed the book, and I do 3 hour commutes and keep myself awake and sane with books on tape. I'll have to see if my local library can get it, or if anybody's got one on e-bay (which is a great source of recorded books at less nausea-provoking prices).

They've recently let a huge batch go at a book warehouse sale over the last weekend for $2 a book.

I listen to alot of tech podcasts (yes Im a part of the TWIT army) audible.com sponsers some of the shows, so the hosts (about 6) always have a weekly pick of audio books. One day someone picked SD, and every one of the hosts swore that they heard it too, none of them are divers but they all loved it. I have heard the shorter version, thinking of getting the longer version now
