Any info on this resort and dive op greatly appreciate. Arriving Sep w/ 2 friends. Location was driving force - none of us have been to Cayman and date was what the timeshare trading company could get for us. Been reading other Cayman posts and have learned lots already. Some recent incidents in Cayman have me a little gun shy and want to make sure I am ready for the diving.
Our 'girls only' group consists of 1 non-diver; 1 diver OW cert out of water for 2 years and if she has 50 dives total thas-a-lot (I've strongly suggested a weekend at the quarry and refresher course before we go); and 1 diver AOW + some pretty cards, comfortable, good skills and management (good - not a dive professional).
Last trip friend demonstrated some bad skills, and based on that, plus not knowing any of the terrain, I would prefer to find an op doing fairly shallow reef dives w/ a local guide/DM whatever you want to call them, in the water with us at least for early dives. (And I'm ok if I have to pay for it. I don't need to hang my friend over a wall to discover she decided to go investigate the pretty fish at 200 feet, gets narced and I have to drag her up and share my air enroute! If we get enough dives in and skills and air work out, then I will consider steep and deep walls.
Easy beach diving where non-diver can hang or snorkel would also be great (by easy think beach diving Bonaire easy if that gives you reference point). Suggestions please!
Also - should we book dives prior to arrival or are we OK to arrange once we get there? Anything else I need to know, feel free to pass along!
