Hi! Im pretty new to scuba diving and I love it. As i want to show my friends all the awesome things i experience i just bought myself a canon uw housing for my elph 300.

I also downloaded and played around a little with chdk 1.2.0 full and i would like som help learning about all the different settings available in chdk and how to find the best settings for my camera.
Now i've just activated custom auto iso and saving of jpg+dng raw. What else should i do? Should i try to change any settings in custom auto iso?

Should i use different settings on land vs under water or are they pretty similar?

One thing i noticed with the housing is that it has no menu button, so i'll have to do the chdk auto boot trick, but then if i mess upp with the chdk settings i cant turn it off under the surface.... So should i just rely on the oem firmware in underwater mode and manually adjust the white balance now and then?

This canon has no IRIS so it shoots at fixed aperture.
With this housing you can't add wet lenses and with the internal flash you can realistically take only subject between 5-15 cm
So you have two main set up: natural light (flash off) with custom white balance and flash on with Auto white balance
The camera has a field of view of 60 degrees once in water that is not a lot but you can manage some decent natural light shots of subjects that are not too large.

CHDK
The AUTO ISO can be quite useful to force the camera to shoot at 1/125 of a second instead of the 1/60 that it would use by default. Another feature that I don't know if it is supported by this camera is to save in RAW. If supported save in RAW this will give you more options in post processing

Good luck!

Yeah it can save photos in raw! Any suggestions on the auto iso settings in chdk? :)
Thanks
