Hi all,

I have an XDeep Zeos which I love, however haven’t been in the water for a couple of years. When I got my gear out I noticed that the reg bag was quite mouldy.

The wing doesn’t look too bad, but I’m trying to work out how to disinfect it. In general it seems that a service for a wing is just on the HPI, but I’ve been told that I can use some kind of BCD disinfectant on the wing.

The quandary I have is that XDeep state in their user manual “The only maintenance procedure which may be performed by the user is rinsing the BC in fresh water. It is recommended after diving in salt or chlorinated water.
On no account should detergents, cleaning agents or solvents be used for cleaning the BC. In case of heavy soil, contact the producer for additional information.”

They also state that the wing should be overhauled every 200 dives or yearly, whichever comes first, but servicing should only be done by an approved XDeep service center (can’t see any information as to what one of them is on their website).

I don’t know what constitutes an overhaul or what I should shouldn’t be doing to disinfect and avoid any potential further mould issues.

Any thoughts?!

Thanks
James

You have a couple options I think you can try. Vinegar, mouth wash, or I personally if it was bad go with something like Steramine. After its all clean, inflate the BCD and see if it holds air. you could also submerge the inflated wing and see if any bubbles com out.
