Hi, I'm thinking about buying a used Zeagle Ranger or Tech on Ebay. Since my local dive shop is not a Zeagle dealer, I was wondering if I can service it myself. Is there anything special I need to do once I get the BCD? Any suggestion on how I can go about doing that? :D

I do not want to offend, but if you are not sure what needs to be inspected or serviced. Would you feel confident on performing those services?

None taken. I'm not really looking to take apart the thing and put it back together like Navy SEAL. It's more of how do I know my BCD is working, before I jump into the water.

Blow it up full & let it sit for a bit, see if it holds pressure. If it doesn't, get it serviced. Test all the dump valves, manual & power inflators.

Larry @ scubatoys.com is an authorized Zeagle dealer, you could send it there for servicing.

I have to agree with Wayward. They're not that hard to service but if you don't know what you are doing have someone who does know look at it like Larry from ScubaToys.

Alrity, I'll buzz Larry @ scubatoys if I win the auction.

You might consider checking with Larry directly at Scuba Toys first before you buy one used... He may be able to offer you a really good deal on a new one, plus it would fit perfectly. My girlfriend and I have different size upper and lower body panels in her Zeagle Zena and my Zeagle Brigade... Custom fit is one of the best reasons to get a Zeagle, at least on the models that we have. If you had to purchase a new upper or lower body panel to get a perfect fit with the pre-owned one, I do not think you would be doing yourself a favor... That said, if you know what size you need, the used one might be a good deal...

I thought I knew what size I needed until I actually went into ScubaToys and noticed how much better a custom assembled Zeagle fit me... Custom fit as Scuba Toys was just part of the deal, of course, I would have started to wonder if Larry had measured my girlfriends bust any more than he did... I figure that 7 or 8 times was reasonable for that perfect fit ;) but if he would have measured one more time I would have started to wonder...

Of course I'm joking! That said, I've heard of Larry sending out Zeagles for fit to customers... Hard to beat his service... If nothing else, you could ask him about what it would cost to service a pre-owned one...

Enjoy,

Blue Moon

Yea, I will do that. I live in NYC, so going to ScubaToys is out of the question :) I can't find any Zeagle dealers in NYC. Anyway, I'll definitely give ScubaToys a call once I get all my funds in place.
