Thanks everyone for your responses!
The ABC islands are popular, I will look at flights etc.
I think Hawaii is out of the running, 18+ hours each way is too much for a week long trip.
I have heard good things about Egypt diving, I will look into that one too.
Florida, I could look at this too, research the driving times between Palm Beach County and where my in-laws have houses. Free lodging. :)

Sea of Cortez liveaboard...warm water diving with sea lions in the "world's aquarium." (well maybe not so much these days, but still a nice trip with absolutely beautiful night skies). :)

I’m out in the country, I get beautiful night skies. When I’m diving I can rarely stay awake long enough to see the stars. :)
Liveaboards aren’t really our thing tho, I really only have the energy to do two dives a day. My husband likes to walk for hours in the afternoon. He would drive everyone on the boat nuts.

I did not mention West Palm Beach since you said Caribbean but we often dive there and mid September should be good for Goliath Grouper dives. But of course a greater risk of bad weather/tropical storms.

Unoffical Scubaboard Goliath Grouper Aggregate weekend...
Yes I read this thread too. Not sure if the dives are appropriate for us. Mention was made of a ripping current, I am not fond of great current, the loss of control triggers my OCD. :)
We did have a great dive at Cayo Largo, Cuba when the grouper were massing for the full moon, very cool!

I see you have dove Cozumel so you are aware of drift diving. The difference for Florida is when it is a wreck, most of the time the current is very manageable and you can always tuck yourself behind something to get out of the current. I am just shy of 300 dives there and can only think of 6 when the current was truly challenging. But yes, 3 were GG wreck dives, 2 on the Caster and 1 on Zion Train.

I sounds like Curacao might tick all your needs, nice dives, sandy beaches, topside activities and weather (have been to Bonaire and Aruba so only speaking from other’s experience on Curacao).

@Jayfarmlaw any input?

Yes, I absolutely did not care for Cozumel drift. I can manage the St. Lawrence drifts around our local wrecks but they are not my happy place. :) Hubby does enjoy them tho so I carry on and enjoy watching him enjoy himself.
