The port is made of lexan so it's easy to sand/polish out. The problem is, a dome port becomes optically part of the lens when it's submerged in water so the surface has to be perfectly even for a sharp image. If you remove too much off the material, there'll be a blurry spot. I'm not too concerned though, since it's not an IMAX setup.
