YouTube - Friends on the Reef- St Lucia

I posted my first video a few months ago and just got great suggestion, critiques, and feedback. So, I thought, why not post the second attempt to see if the forum members felt that progress was being made and how to continue to improve.

So, anyone with a creative, constructive mind....jump in....the waters warm!

Wow!! Your video looks great!!

The only critique is that some of the cuts are very fast back to back.

But the quality is awesome and the steadyness of the camera looked awesome!!

Nice video. I didn't know St Lucia has a wreck. Can't believe this is only your 2nd video. Great job. You are beyond the "just taking shots" part of making videos.

Might want to experiment using more establishing shots with the small stuff. For example, a wide angle reef shot, a diver pointing, then a close up of the shrimp. You don't have to always do this, but it helps with the transitions from the different parts of the dive. Like what you did with the moon to transition to the night dive. Nice.

Also might want to try different camera angles like low angle and up angle. These shots can be difficult to frame if you have a rear view housing, especially for closeup and macro. The subject doesn't always need to stay centered. Sometimes having the subject enter and/or exit the frame while the camcorder is still, looks good.

I say might, because everyone has different styles. These just some things I like to do.

I can't offer advice. Just wanted to say I think the video was well done. Good mix of sea life and structure (wreck/rocks). Thanks for sharing.

Actually thanks to everyone for the feedback. Some very good ideas to consider and implement. Just really want to get to learn and get to a place where there is a seemless professionalism and it relates an interesting story or feeling.

Thanks again. Will keep learning.

Very nice video, keep up the excellent work. Ron made some great suggestions for your next trip out!
