Now that the novelty of seeing "big things" has kind of passed and I'm appreciating finding all the "little things" hidden in the coral, i wanted to also give some macro photography a shot. I've had my DC2000 for about a year and a half and it has been with me on 5 trips so far - basically, I love the camera as a pretty amateur photographer. For this last (5th) trip with the camera, I invested in the Super Macro Lens.

The lens is small and easy to pack. For the camera, I'd highly recommend spending $40 to buy the lens dock that you can velcro strap to any of the arms. During the first few uses, the lens fits a little tight on/off the camera dive housing.

I used the lens over 6 days of diving in the Cayman Islands and I've found that getting use to the close up focus area definitely takes practice. I was able to get some good pics but I also missed out on some good ones because of being a newbie with the lens. I was using 1 or 2 photo/video lights for shooting because my photo strobe flooded early in the trip. The major difficulty I found using the lens is trying to fit into tight spaces to get close enough to focus while still having good light.

Anyway, with practice, i like having this lens as an option. It won't be my primary way to take pictures, but i see myself using it from time to time.

I'm attaching some pictures to show what it is able to produce. The pics are only edited on my iPad in iPhoto. My settings were just the auto dive settings with the external light option.

Thanks for the review. I have had my eye on a DC2000 but cannot justify it until Mrs flush loses/breaks her Micro 2.0 and I can give mine to her as a replacement. :D
