Looking to buy a sealife micro HD. I read some were saying wait until the kinks get worked out but I am going diving in cayman in a month and my old uw camera is awful. My question is whether the Sealife micro hd takes colorful photos (read that it adds color back in)!without having a strobe or light? I am not the most coordinated of people so having a strobe attached would spell disaster for me. I just want to be able to take some good shot and not have my entire picture blue. An thoughts on this camera would be appreciated. ;)

Now that the Micro HD camera has been out for a few months, we're starting to see a lot of great pictures and videos with it, and the overall feedback has been excellent. It's incredibly intuitive to use, with large controls and simple menus - and of course, it's permanently sealed and flood proof. So no need to worry about o-rings or maintenance other than rinsing the camera after your dive.

The onscreen Easy Setup Guide makes it very simple to set the color correction for your depth, helping to eliminate blue pictures. The a compact light such as the Sea Dragon 2000 helps as well, as the 2000 lumens of brightness really bring out the natural color in your subjects. That too is very easy to control, with just a single button operation: Micro HD+ Sea Dragon Pro | Sealife Cameras

You can view some photos taken with the camera on our website: Images | Sealife Cameras
And we've got a lot of great video taken with the camera on our YouTube channel, including this one from the Bahamas: SeaLife Micro HD: Stunning Underwater Encounters with Sharks, Rays, Turtles & More - YouTube

Thanks and feel free to reach out to us directly with any other questions!

We're the pictures that are linked taken without the Sealife Dragon light or with it?

Plain and simple. If you want good pictures you need flashes. I have never used the camera you are talking about but love my SeaLife DC1400 with two of the pro flashes. The camera may take OK pictures without flashes if you use the sun as light in shallow places but you won't be happy with ANY underwater camera that you don't add flashes to.

I've been thinking of getting a couple video lights for the DC1400 to start taking video. That being said a 14 megapixel taken well gives you a huge picture that you can REALLY zoom into/crop/etc. I couldn't be happier with my camera although I'm sure if you want to spend a ton more you could likely get a nicer camera but I can only assume it would be harder to get the same nice images due to the complexity of the much more expensive camera. SeaLife cameras make it easy to take nice pictures.

Kpaolisso - Yes, most of the shots you see there, particularly if they are not shots near the surface, were taken with a Sea Dragon Photo/Video/Dive Light. As mentioned in this thread, the key to getting colorful shots is the right lighting - and Sea Dragon Lights provide that in a very compact package.

Never mind.

Funny we have a group of 10 or so small mouth bass that just about let you touch them. You will forget about them and 10 minutes later you look over your shoulder and there they are. They love to follow you around.

I'm having difficulty with the hd app, I can connect via wifi but it says there are no pictures in the camera when there actually is, I have formatted a couple of times which didn't work, I understand the next step is to formatt via my desk top but I'm have a hard time doing it with my MAC, some help would be appreciated.. Thanks sincity
