Hey all I am on the hunt fot for an underwater kit that includes a single strobe.
My two LDS shops carry sea&sea at one and sealife at the other. Cost for a camera case and strobe are about 650 sealife to 1200 for the sea&sea. Unforntunitly they both rave about the cameras but i have no experence with ether one.

I read all the dc-800 threads on scuba does anyone have any of there own thouhts on ether one of these cameras?

Thanks Randy

I have the Sea&Sea DX1200HD but without a strobe. I took it to Grand Cayman last week and got a few good shots - you really need a strobe even in the clear water there. Pictures taken above water were great. It is easy to use in or out of the housing. I haven't used the video function yet so I can't comment on that.

My buddy had the Sealife DC800 on that trip. His pictures turned out really well. The functions and ease of use looked to be the same to me. His videos turned out really good - we got some nice videos of my husband doing his OW certification skills. The dive shop is going to use them on their website :)

Our LDS sells the DC800 but my husband bought the S&S for me for Xmas while on vacation. I like the camera but it is much more expensive than the Sealife and there isn't a dive shop close by that carries the DX1200 or any accessories. I really think they are comparable cameras. I honestly do not see a difference in quality compared to the difference in price.

Hope that helps some in making the decision.

Thanks it really does help i have been thinking hard on it and for the amount that i will use it twice to three times a year I think the dc-800 pro at half the price is going to be the way i go.
