Has anyone had any experiences with Seadventures, a dive op on a platform off Mabul Island? Nothing came up when I tried the Scubaboard search option.

Thanks so much
Pamela

Never heard much about them really.
Someone who was staying there was telling me that the rooms were leaky, a little loud, but otherwise fine. Looks like an interesting place to stay, but- being you are camped out on an oil rig- it might be a little boring if youre there for a few days.

I'd be bored... especially seeing Mabul's beaches a couple hundred meters away!

Though its least luxurious place in the area, I have heard good things of its house reef and night dives.

I stayed there about 1.5 years ago and had a very good experience. However, there are a few points to keep in mind. First, the rooms are a bit run-down; If you are looking for luxury then this is not the right place. Second, there is very little opportunity to get off the platform (except for boat dives). So you are a bit stuck with the people, food, entertainment that is on the platform.
Having said that, if you are there only for diving it is a very good option. There is free diving right below the platform all day. The diving is quite good and other operators come to the platform at times so their customers can dive there. There are pygmy seahorses, frogfish, bumphead parrotfish, blue-lined snappers, etc., etc. right below you. Also the entry and exit on the elevator is a bit of a novelty. I would go there again.

Yeah!
The SeaVentures divesite was pretty good. Lots of junk on the bottom (put there on purpose) for stuff to hide in. I enjoyed diving there. But there werent any Pygmies to be found when i was there... :(

It was really nice diving at the rig! But we didn't stay there, the cost saving wasn't too significant, so we stayed at Mabul at Scuba Junkie's new resort, which was quite nice & affordable (there is no ac, lunch was pretty bad...).

Thanks for the info everyone!

Xariatay- there is no AC at Scuba Junkie's new resort, and bad food as well?

Happy trails!

I am perfectly well w/o AC but understand that it is important to other people, so just thought to note it for the others... Oh btw, they have en-suite shower & toilet... & the view from the porches is nice! (especially if you get those rooms nearer to the beach)
As for the food, just the lunches were no good, breakfasts were simple but OK & dinners were pretty good (nothing fancy)! It was been awhile, hopefully they have already improved on their lunches (think of those poor DMs who have to eat the lunches everyday!)
