Hello!

I’ve just bought a pair of used Sea & Sea YS-D3 Duo strobes, but when I insert new batteries both of them do the same thing when I turn the mode selector: several green flashes and then nothing—no beep, no panel light, and no target light when pressing the button. Has anyone observed similar behavior? I’d really appreciate any help, as this is my first time using these strobes and I find it very strange that both show the same issue. Thanks!

Cheers,
Dani

Well, according to the manual it means there isn’t enough battery power, but the batteries are new Duracell alkalines. Is it really that demanding about the type of batteries?

Flashing yellow -> No battery power left

Have you checked the batteries with a voltmeter?

I stopped using Duracells years ago for anything after having issues with "brand new" batteries that were duds straight out of the box 10+ years ago.

May have had something to do with storage in heat or similar but I only use Eneloop / IKEA batteries in my strobes and Energiser batteries for anything else.

Using Eneloop Pro works like a charm :)
It seems Duracell Optimum are not able to give enough current to charge capacitors, even brand new
