Sea&Sea wide angle lenses

Buying Sea&Sea MM EX II - can't decide between 16mm and 20mm lenses - they have the same price.

If you own the S&S MMEX - what was your choice and why?

I read that 20mm had better optics than 16mm - but 16mm provides wider angle.

I was planning to use wide angle to shot pics of wrecks and wall and diver type of shots.

I have both lenses and prefer the 20mm. The optics are the same in each as far as I know...at least you can't tell a difference in the pictures.

What strobe do you have? The 16mm needs a wide coverage angle or better yet, 2 strobes. Whereas the 20mm can be covered with the YS60 usually sold with the camera. It will work great for the things you mentioned, I've had good results with all three as well as wide angle close-ups with the 20mm...to me it's just more versatile.

Hi Dee,

I have used MM EXII in the past. Go for the 16mm, it has a coverage that is almost similar to a Nikonos 15mm lens. You can do quite a lot with it. Manta, Sharks, Sea Fans, shots of schooling Barracuda and Jacks are some of the stuff why you should have the 16mm first. Please also get the High Eyepoint Viewfinder to go along.

I have successfully shot some OK pictures with 16mm and 1 x YS-60 strobe. Although YS-120 will be a better choice.
