Hi,
I just completely upgraded my setup (previous was Nikon/Ikelite) and got the new gear and I cannot get the strobes to fire.

Here's the details:
  • Canon R5
  • Isotta housing with Manual Trigger Upgrade
  • 2 Sea & Sea YS-D3 Duo Strobes with Fiber Optic Cable
No matter what I do I cannot get the strobes to fire. I've set the strobes to every possible setting, checked with both fiberoptic cables. I replaced the CR2450 battery in the housing. I made sure the housing was turned on. I tested the camera by adding a speedlight, and that fires. When in the camara settings, it does NOT detect an external speedlight when connected to the housing and strobes (not sure if it should), but it does detect my external speedlight.

I'm at a complete loss and hoping someone has some guidance.

If your trigger isn't a E-TTL capable one you won't see any Flash Icon LIGHTNING BOLT connection from your strobes even if the strobe(s) are set to TTL.

Look through your Canon RED TAB menus under FLASH CONTROL. Scroll down to see if there's a choices under EXTERNAL FLASH units.

Might be one choice under that sub-heading for MANUAL EXTERNAL flash only. Meaning only a ground / trigger signal may go to your convertor and out via fiber optic cords to your MANUALLY set strobe power.

Flash control / triggers and various brand strobes are always headache until you find what works :(

Good luck!
