Bought the whole set up recently - upgraded from Mx-10. Just reading the book and had couple of questions:

- with the YS-60 strobe, how buoyant is the system - i.e. do i have to adjust weights at all

- for wide angle photography, the book talks about setting the f-stop using the guide numbers - that all makes sense - what is the setting for the shutter speed though? Same for macro - what do you do with the shutter speed?

THanks very much,

I recently got rid of the same system and went digital so maybe I can help.

The whole system is just slightly negative but not enough for you to adjust your weighting.

Shutter speeds for both wide angle and macro is 1/125 as a general rule. The guide numbers for aperature are a beginning point but don't be afraid to bracket your shots and experiment. For macro, f/11 for reflective backgrounds and subjects (sand) and f/22 for just about everything else. For wide angle, again depending on several factors, f/5.6 and f/8 are good places to start.

I believe the shutter speeds will tend to be towards the slowest the camera has, in order to increase the depth of field and the ambient light in the areas the flash will not reach. A black background in a wideangle photo is generally to be avoided.

Hi,

I started off with Sea&Sea MMEX-II. Upgraded to housing and Nikonos V.

1) You don't have to adjust your weight, it is comfortable enough to bring it down with your present scuba setup.

2) For WA, it is quite hard to get an exposure with 1/125 UW coz your f stop will probably be on the bigger side. If you include sunburst, it will probably overwhelm the whole picture.

Rule of thumb: adjust you shutter so that your f stop is f8 or smaller especially if you include the sunburst!

1/125 will probably give you a darker background. Most of the time, a lighter blue will make your WA picture nicer. But hey, please remember that all that we have said here is textbook stuff, experiment it yourself and see what you like.

For macro, it doesn't really matter with this camera as your shutter speed is limited from 1/125 to 1/30. Just shoot with 1/125!

I have been looking at this package as well and was wondering....it looks like it will only take one strobe. Does anyone know if it is possible to add a second strobe to this system?

Yes, there are a couple of ways to add a second strobe to the MMII-EX system. First, you'll need to get a double tray to hold camera dn both strobes and arms.

1) use a slave strobe
2) use a dual strobe connection
