We are looking for a durable set (2 cameras) for our rental department. We are looking for comments about these cameras, housings, and strobes. I am leaning toward the S&S DX1G w/dual 110's.....thoughts? These cameras would be used by guests as rentals and training the PADI DUP specialty. Ideas? Thoughts?

I would go with the DX-1G. I have it and it is a pretty good camera and simple to use. You can still teach the basics for manual settings too as all the functions are easily accessible. There are less parts to worry about. No issues with ports and less O-Rings to deal with. In addition, the camera is capable of both decent wide angle for a P&S and also superb macro.

Most photographers will be less intimidated by a P&S. I would assume you would be able to rent one out more frequently. Serious photogs would bring their own equipment. Newbies are also better off with a P&S as it is easier to maintain buoyancy without putting a camera up to your eye.

My 2 cents...
