Sea & Sea DX1200HD or Sealife DC1000 for first purchase

I had started a thread earlier regarding the Sea & Sea DX1200HD that had limited response, but know I'm wondering if the Sealife DC1000 would better suit my needs.

I probably won't use the Sea & Sea's HD video too much.

Is the 2k mega pixal difference enough to make the Sea & Sea the better choice?

The two units are priced close enough that price is a wash for me.

Can either be used topside WITH the housing? I'm thinking, taking pictures on the boat without worrying about the camera getting wet.

Any other considerations?
