Recently I was considering the DX-1200HD or the Sealife DC1000. Here's a post I started on the subject: http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/underwater-photography/274149-sealife-dc1000-sea-sea-1200hd.html

I eventually went with the Canon G10 / Ikelite housing. The G10 has manual controls, an excellent sensor and a high quality lens. Something that both the DX and DC lack. If you wanted to stay in the 600 dollar range, I would go with the G10 w/ Canon housing "IMHO". The DX-1200HD does have a great movie mode. One of its strong points for sure.

Here's a good post dedicated purely to the DX1200HD: Review: Sea & Sea DX 1200HD - Scuba Forum - Scuba Diving Forums and Discussion Board

I saw your other post about a quick focus camera system. The DX1200-HD will not be your ideal candidate, I've even read from a couple users that it has a weird glitch to focus past your intended target. Where it will properly focus before taking the shot and then when pushing the shutter it will go past focus and become blurred. I don't have first hand experience with this and I can't imagine it to happen on all systems, but I have read it and was confirmed by different owners. The G10 however is quick to focus and shoot when compared to relative Point and Shoot systems "still not close to a SLR though".

A good review for best point and shoot systems of all price ranges for 2009: http://www.backscatter.com/learn/article/article.php?ID=57
