Have had one since the start of the year and have no major complaints with it. Only thing I would do different is not have integral weights as they are a pain sometimes esp with a dry suit (much prefer harnesses)

Try it on, dive with one if you can - all much of a muchness really.

I have a Pro QD and have been pleased with it.

Positives:
- Easy to use weight pockets (velcro)
- Both ditchable (up to 10 lbs each) and non-ditchable (5 lbs each against your back) weight pockets
- Easily-adjustable pivoting shoulder straps that make it more comfortable
- 6 D rings (shoulder, chest, hip)
- 3 air dumps (1 on back right hip, one on right shoulder - I never use this one, one at base on power inflator)
- Built in clip in the right pocket -- good for hooking your car keys on (if shore diving) or other tools (shears, etc.)
- Durable construction -- I've used mine for about 40 dives and it still looks unused

Negatives:
- Pockets, while large, shrink substantially if you use the ditchable weight pockets. That being said, I can still fit a pair of shears in my right pocket and my rolled up Halcyon dive alert marker/safety sausage in my left pocket.

As I said above, I've been happy with it. You might also want to pick up the latest print issue of Rodale's ScubaDiving magazine. They review a bunch of BCs, including the Sea-Quest Pro QD and the Pro Unlimited.

Hope this helps

I've just upgraded mine to a Black Diamond... I found with the weight integration, there was too much tendancy for the Pro QD to slip off your waist and up under your armpits if you were diving with a heads down profile (like me sticking my head under rocks with a light looking at all the critters). The Black Diamond allows use of a crotch strap, and the Pro QD doesn't. Plus as large_diver said, the pockets lose much of their useable space once you put the weight pouches in the BC. Otherwise I loved it. Most BP/wings setups use a crotch strap I notice, so it's a wonder more weight integrated BCs don't.

The Pro QD has also just been replaced by the Pro QD+, which sells for about $50 more.

Hey,

I use the Pro QD for all my classes and general recreational diving. I love mine, though wrap around inflation systems will always make the pockets tighter and the pockets have a tendency to slide to the rear as they are not attached to the front clips like older style BCs. I prefer a wrap around for teaching and recreation because of the time spent floating on the surface in the pool and in the Ow during classes.
Tech diving however is entirely different. If you have plans to get into tech diving please don't even try to do it with a rec Bc. I use 2 different Bcs for tech stuff. For doubles I use the OMS IQ with double 100 lb bladders and it has performed flawlessly for 5 years. For single larger tanks I use a standard harness with SS back plate and a Halcyon knockoff 65 lb wing (sorry GUE) just as good a quality and 1/3 the price.

Happy diving
