I noticed that SDI is offering some training for solo diver
are any of the other mainstream recreational outfits teaching that?
Just curious......

Very early on in my diving 30 years ago, I pretty much started diving with the idea that every dive is a solo dive. Really just an added safety factor added to my diving I suppose....

ssi and padi both offer a course.
divers should be aware however that holding that cert may not necessarily mean you will be allowed to solo dive with a dive op.
many shops will still refuse to allow this and i belive it is actually illegal in some countries like the caymans for example.

PADI has a self reliant course. I did the SDI solo myself.

Hi @bradlw

SDI has offered Solo Diver since 1999, by eLearning since 2013

PADI offers Self-Reliant Diver and SSI has Independent Diver

I watched a lone diver walk into the ocean the other day a true solo diver
