Hi everybody!

Mi (very) old powershot A80 passed away last week (strange as it sounds it never got flooded:D) due to problems in the sensor; anyway I have a sd990 and I'm considering buying a new housing but no sure about if an Ikelite or a canon one.

As far as I Know Ikelite rates 200 ft vs canon 180ft, besides the Ikelite can be fitted with filters for blue and green water but it's far more expensive than the canon.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

you get what you pay for. i just got my Ikelite g10 housing and i think it was worth every penny. i went to b and h photo who insurenced my housing for 3 years i think. so if it ever get dropped and cracked they will replace it or fix the issue.

Canon rocks, As far as the camera, I would use nothing but Canon.
Canon Housings are some of the good ones, But Ike-Lite is far better , and I would go Ike-Lite all the way!

Thanks guys

I finally received my Ikelite housing today. Looks great! can't wait for the next weekend to give it a try!!!:lotsalove:

Damage,

You'll love your Ikelite housing. :-) I have an Ikelite housing and lighting for my older Sony TRV80 video camera and I LOVE it! It's nice being able to see your camera thru the clear plastic and see how the knobs are working. Also, Ikelite is a GREAT company to work with if you need anything. During one trip out of the country my lighting system was damaged but not enough for me to notice until it flooded underwater. I sent it in for repair and received a new one - no charge!!

For my Canon G10 I went with the FIX-g10 from reefphoto.com. It's pricey, but compact and very durable. One reason for this choice was that I'm not a big person (and getting older), planning a trip to Yap and Palau. Smaller is a good thing when carrying onboard.

Have a great time with your new system!!!
