First scuba photo rig. Got the camera tonight, I'm about to order the u/w housing.

Question: I've read that the camera and housing is naturally neutrally buoyant. Why then, do they sell a weight kit? Do I need to order it?

Also - anyone else using this setup? Any tips on settings specific to this combo?

Brand new to u/w photography!

Thanks...

i'm guessing they sell it to make money........I used my A570(+ bouyant) for the 1st time in Little Cayman last week--didn't bother me one bit...If I were you, I'd not buy it........

if it is neutral, I wouldn't bother with weights.

My SD500 with just the Canon case was +, which I found annoying. once I started adding accessories, it became neutral to negative.

I had an S410 that was postive and kinda bugged me, now have the SD550 and it is neutral without accessories.

Canon Waterproof Case Weight WW-DC1

The Waterproof Case Weight WW-DC1 is used in Canon Waterproof Cases to prevent them from floating while taking pictures underwater. Four weights, plastic pins and weight securing screws are included in the WW-DC1 package. To use this weight, put two pins into the appropriate number of weights, and fasten it to the waterproof case with the securing screw. When other accessories are attached to the waterproof case, the number of weights may vary.
