I:vintagediver:E DECIDED BETWEEN THESE TWO, THIS WEEK. BUT HAVE,NT SEEN ANY POSTS ON THESE MODELS. PLANNING ON "IKELITE" HOUSING. ANY FEED BACK?

I have the 790 with the Ikelite housing. I picked the 790 for the 3" LCD screen. I like the setup a lot. I picked the Ikelite housing after my last canon housing flooded and ruined my camera.

Check out this link for more than you ever wanted to know about Canon compact choices :)

fl - did you determine why the housing flooded? It's almost never due to the housing itself, but almost always user error.

I've had Canon housings for ten years with never a flood or a problem. I've just added two more to my line up.

Ikelite housings are fantastic and can offer options that a Canon housing won't offer. For me, they are not worth the extra cost or extra bulk. You've got to weigh the options and decide what suits your needs the best :)

For the SD1100 there is also the FSD 770 Fantasea Housing. It is less expensive and a lot less bulky that the Ike, and much better made than the Canon. It has metal controls, a 200' depth rating, metal latches. There is a full range of add on lenses and filters to fit it. It comes with a year of flood insurance as well.

We also tried it with the new Canon SD1200 and it fits fine.
