I recently obtained a Mark V and had some questions for the board.

First off, the one that I have has only 2 LP ports, I have seen some Mark Vs with many more LP ports, and figure it might be just an upgrade of the turret. Anyone have experience with this?

Additionally, is the yoke upgradable from the 3000 to a 4000 lbs version, and is this worth doing?

And lastly, why are parts for this model so scarce? My normal internet sources which can get just about any SP part for me are not able to get a Mark V rebuild kit. Any thoughts/help with this?

Thanks!

I believe the Mark V uses most of the same parts as later models. The parts kits should contain everything you need.

The Mk V has a larger piston than the more common and slightly more youthful Mk 10 and happens to use the same piston head o-ring (01-050-179) as the Mk 15/20/25 but without the backing ring. The Mk V also uses the same high pressure seat (10-101-151) and piston shaft o-ring (01-050-137) as the Mk 10.

So the parts are common and still around and it's no surprise either that Scubapro still sells the annual service kit for the MK V (10-105-041). We have no problem getting them from SP.

SP made both a 4 and later a 5 port (10-105-113) swivel cap for the MK V. The 4 or 5 port swivel port caps are no longer available from SP but you can find them floating around out there on dealer shelves in both new and used condition. This cap is unfortunately not the same as any of the later swivel caps.
