Looking to buy new dive gear and I've probably looked at 20 different BCs. I like the Scubapro knighthawk the best. It seems more rugged compared to others on the market, plus it's extremely comfortable. Opinions please

I have it and love it!!!! I mainly use it in tropical waters, one draw back are the small pockets

The knighthawk is one of the more popular BCs available. Overall, it does a good job for the majority of the recreational diving that most people do. I would guess that the knighthawk is the #1 bc sold by my LDS.

A comparable brand would be Zeagle. They have several back inflate models. Some cost more than the knighthawk. Others cost less. Still worth a look. Scubatoys.com is a good place to look and get informed about Zeagle BCs.

A third alternative is a system called backplate and wing. Like the knighthawk, these systems are back inflate. Three things I really like about backplate and wing systems (several different brands available):
-they are not laden with padding and material that will require additional weight to sink. In other words, backplate systems typically mean you will wear less weight on your weight belt.
- very streamlined. If you look at the front of a diver wearing one, it almost seems as if the diver isn't wearing a BC at all.
- easy to upgrade. Backplate systems transition very well into double tanks. So if you think you have doubles in your future, a backplate system will give you the most flexibility.

There are pluses and minuses for every type of system so knowing more about your current and future dive goals will help you make the best decision. If you think you are going to be a mainstream recreational diver, a scubapro knighthawk will work for you just fine.

Unless you're considering a BP/Wing setup, the KnightHawk is the best rear inflate BCD I have ever used. My wife and neighbor love their LadyHawks as well. I have switched over to a BP/Wing, but I really enjoyed my KnightHawk when I had it.

I have just over 100 dives on my Knighthawk and have been really pleased...streamlined, simplicity, comfortable and very durable. I particularly don't care for jacket BC's so this was my first logical choice. However, I have to agree with tboxcar...the pockets, hardly pockets. Although I am know looking to go with a BP/W, I wouldn't hesitate recommending the Knighthawk.

Excellent BC, will last forever ith a little care. I have one with about 300 dives on it. Looks almost new.

It's a great BC ..
I don't know if you do any shore diving, but I very much like the "back pack" feel to it, on those long walks across the sand to get to/from the water on a beach dive .. It may be the advantage that this BC has over a BP/W
... one small pocket & one roll down pocket can make it a challenge to stow stuff (I have backup light always in small pocket, BC knife on inflator) Although, you have the same issue with BP/W in that respect .. in my case, I think I would like to have tried BP/W , I may have gone that way (bought all my gear before completing OW) .. you may want to try a BP/W before making a final choice, ether way, It's a good BC

I appreciate everyones input. It's unveasable to try all the BCs on the market. I just thought the Knighthawk was a little better then the rest. Plus the rear inflate BCs seem more comfortable when diving.
