I have a new Scubapro MK16/R380 with the standard length hoses. I would like to swap the primary hose for a 5' hose but the connector that Scubapro uses needs a custom 'wrench'. Has anyone used a cloth and set of vise-grips to loosen this type of connector? The shop where I want to buy the hose is not a SP dealer and hence doesn't have the SP wrench.

Also, can I expect a standard hose with a standard connector to connect with my Scubapro unit or is this also a scubapro-specific item?

Do just like you said.Wrap a rag around the fitting and take a pair of pliers to loosen it.It is not very tight at all.I dont even use a rag and have yet to scratch it,but be safe and use a rag.

It uses a standard 3/8" hose....nothing fancy.Make sure you only tighten the new hose just enough to keep it from coming off....no need to torque it way down.

Thanks, adjustable pliers worked perfectly. No marks on the gear and really, it required just a 'touch' more force than my bare fingers were able to provide to break the connector free.

You can actually tighten them enough by hand so that you don't need the tool.

Vice grips, lockjaws, adjustable wrenches and Pliers.

Uses: Holding Hot things, pouring lead, throwing at pesky cats.

THATS ALL!!!!!

Right tool for the right job

HI Aquamaniac,

A good friend of mine has move to Altlanta from Melbourne Australia for 6 months, maybe more, and he was a very keen diver here.

I'll get him to sign onto this board and see if he can arrange to do some diving there. I don't know if he knows anyone diving there perhaps you could point him the right direction.

What do you reckon?
