I have the Scuba Tools Scubapro Multi-Tool. The spline wrench does not appear to fit over the metal hose fittings on my LP hose. Is that expected? The hose is from XSScuba. Perhaps the spline tool only fits over Scubapro hose fittings?

I assume the correct way to use the tool is to put it around the rubber hose and slide up to the splined jam nut.

I can't imagine I'm doing it wrong, but anything is possible, so I thought I'd post.

It is for SP hoses, not for general use.

So for aftermarket hoses, such as XSScuba, DiveRite, and Halcyon, is the best option to wrap the spline nut with a rag and use a standard adjustable wrench?

I use a TaranTool which is thinner. There are other options, but a rag is a good idea with most of them.

XS Scuba Star Tool - Stainless Steel

I recently got one of these via Amazon.

I think based on a recommendation from another thread here on ScubaBoard.

Has a number of open end sizes.

Ah yes, that's a great tool. I have one. However, I don't believe it works on splined jam nuts. This picture might help understand what I'm talking about: SP G250 jam nut

Check the jam nut at the far right of the picture, for the G260. That's what I'm working with.

Oops, sorry about that.

Good Luck!
