Hi,
I've been looking for some time for a second hand computer that I can use both, diving (conventional recreation dive, no gas mixes) and freediving.

I'm considering now two options: scubapro chromis and seac action. Both for the same price (120 eur).

I've read good reviews about both (although I do have some concerns about the battery life of the scubapro). Any advice? Which one would you go for? I have the impression that the chromis is supposed to be a higher end model than the seac, but also older.

Thanks a lot for your advice!!
Best,
Jorge

I have the Seac Action. Its a good computer. Gives me all the info I need. I don't use it as an everyday watch (which it can be), only for diving so the 'Turn Off' feature is great for battery life extension. It is easy to read, and with the PC cable (extra add on purchase) the info can be downloaded to your phone or laptop. Holds about 40 dives I am led to believe.
I have never used the Scubapro one so can't comment on that one.

Just for transparency, the Suunto one in my avatar was during my training dives and supplied by the dive school before I bought my own gear. :)

Good luck with your purchase.

Cheers
Tony

I'd go for the action as well, 120 is pretty cheap for it and it has a dedicated freediving mode. If you ever do decide to do anything beyond recreational diving you could just use the action as a bottom timer in gauge mode.

Avoid the Chromis. If you can get the Scubapro A1 it is great. Chromis has problems that freeze it up displaying error messages. Scubapro will not fix them anymore.

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitively go for the Seac
