Hello all-

I wanted to PM the resident Scubapro expert about this directly ;), but thought that others may want to know this.

The Scubapro regulator manual says that there are low-temperature features of the Mk2 and Mk25:

- the Mk2 has a "Temperature Insulating System"

- the Mk25 has an "antifreeze" as well as a "Temperature Insulating System"

Searches on previous threads suggest that the one on the Mk2 works well, and the Mk25 not so well.

My question: are these systems standard on these regulators? i.e. does my Mk2 come with the "Temperature Insulating System" already?

Or are they upgrades to the regulators? (the previous threads and the manual aren't clear on the matter, at least to me)

[edited to add: Thanks, DA!!!!!]

The TIS kit has been standard for several years on all SP regs. From time to time SP may upgrade the TIS kits on a given model and the new parts usually come in the annual service kits for them. In some cases however the upgrade may include revision of a major part such as the piston and this would require an additional charge to upgrade to the new part (about $20 dealer cost for a piston).

The "AF" kit was added to the Mk 25 a few years ago and all current MK 25's have the AF kit as standard so there is not really a MK 25 "AF" although for a while MK 25's with the AF kit were referred to as MK 25AF's by divers. The latest version of the AF kit included a composite piston with a mirror finished piston stem - with the mirror finished stem being the latest change.

That is the idea.
